Giuseppina (Pina) Carlucci
November 11, 1935 – April 7, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Giuseppina Carlucci announce her passing on April 7th, 2023 at 87 years old. Our beloved Mom, Nan, Grandma, Nonna, Nunn and Nonnie passed away peacefully surrounded by love from her family.
Pina was born November 11th, 1935 in the small village of Santa Maria Del Molise. In 1956 at the age of 21, Pina boarded a ship from Italy to Canada embarking on one of the longest and toughest journeys of her life, but she knew it was for a better future. Later joined by her husband, Antonio, they settled in Wabigoon, where they started their family, having John, Domenic and Mike. In 1971, she sadly lost her husband, and was left to raise three boys on her own. With resiliency, love, and perseverance, she built a life for herself and her sons, out of “suppless” nothing. Pina modeled her love of cooking, hard work, and family to her sons. She always had food at the ready, from pizzelles, biscuits, gnocchi, pasta sauce and her famous lasagna. She had a passion for the outdoors, vacationing to Jamaica, Florida, Mexico and her home country Italy. She could often be seen walking miles around town, blueberry picking, relaxing on the back deck, and tending her plants, especially her giant basil and rose bushes. But most of all, her favorite activities were fishing with her grandsons (or should we say out-fishing her grandsons) and facetiming daily with her grand-daughters and great-grandchildren. She was an avid member of many organizations such as TOPS, Catholic Women’s League, and a local legend at St Joseph’s School weekly hot dog day.
Her greatest pride is her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an incredible woman with a heart of gold and will be missed by everyone that knew her. She leaves a legacy of love behind; John (Marilyn), Domenic (Marta) and Mike (Kelly). Her grandchildren, Nina (Christian), Jenna (Ed), Anthony, Lucas, Katrina, and Nicolas (Hannah). Her great-grandchildren Olivia, Noah, Henry, Jackson, and baby boy Carlucci arriving in June. She was predeceased by her husband, Antonio Carlucci.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wittig, Dr. Pettinger for the excellent care provided – and a special thanks to the ‘Angels on the Hill’ for their compassion and kindness, we are forever grateful.
