Margret Rose Galvin
January 26, 1935 – April 4, 2023
It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Margret Rose Galvin on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Margret was born Jan 26, 1935, the third daughter to Lenard and Annie Holmes in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Mom grew up in Moose Jaw with her parents Len, Annie, sisters Merrie and Mildred and was always a prairie girl.
Mom went through school and took her nursing and graduated as an RN in 1956. Mom moved to Dryden in 1956 to start her nursing career as the first registered nurse to be hired for the new hospital, and she enjoyed every minute being able to help people.
Mom met the love of her life Gary in the summer of 1958 while nursing, even though she didn’t know it at the time, they had a short courtship before being married May 30, 1959. They started their life together and built their forever home which they lived in until the fall of 2022 when they moved to Patricia Gardens. This move was very difficult and not one mom ever understood.
On August 28, 1964 they welcomed there first child together Garth James Galvin and on May 5, 1967 Darcy Lee Galvin, their second, was born. Mom raised her family doing anything she could to protect and support them. Mom was a nurse for 41years before moving into retirement to start a new chapter of their lives doing some traveling and just being together with family and friends. Mom loved her garden especially her roses, and Dad, every spring, would get the garden ready as he knew it brought so much joy to her. So many people would stop by to admire their garden and Mom was so proud. Mom loved to be around people and was loved by everyone. Mom always loved her animals and took a special shine to her latest one Hachi.
She is survived by her loving husband Gary of 63 years, and “Marg’s Boys” Garth (Carolyn), Darcy (Marsha) and sister Merrie Bulin.
A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Rev. Naboth Manzongo officiating.
