Kenora’s Jeff ‘Gussy’ Gustafson is looking to make history and win the Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic on the Tennessee River as he’s leading the tournament on its final day.
If Gussy holds onto the top spot after weigh-ins at 2 p.m. today, he’ll win $300,000 USD. That’s about $415,000 CAD.
Heading into the final day, Gussy was leading the pack with 35 lbs and 11 oz, nearly 6 lbs more than John Cox in second place with 29 lbs and 15 oz.

Gussy previously won a Bassmaster Elite tournament on the Tennessee River in 2021, and he could become the first Canadian to win a Bassmaster Classic tournament if he wins today.
The Bassmaster Classic is the largest professional bass fishing tournament in the world. Only one other international angler, Takahiro Omori, has ever taken home the title.
