Fuel prices are creeping back up in northwestern Ontario – while the rest of the province gets a break.
After prices fell from 159.9 to 155.9 per litre in Kenora earlier this month, the price at the pumps spiked over the weekend back up to 164.9 across the community.
In Dryden, prices increased from 154.9 to 157.9 as of March 13, 2023 – according to GasBuddy. Red Lake drivers are paying a high of 173.9 per litre, while Thunder Bay’s prices stayed around 155.9.
Funny enough – this all comes as the average cost of fuel dropped across Ontario over the weekend.
On Friday – before the region’s drop – the province’s average price sat at 146.5 per litre, which dropped to 144.3 by Sunday.
During that same timeframe, the Kenora district’s gas prices jumped nearly 10 cents. No prices were reported for Fort Frances or Sioux Lookout.
Last month, Acadia News found that despite Ontario’s average gas price fluctuating 15 times between February 12 and February 28, the Kenora district’s prices only dropped once – by two cents.
