Emergency responders took to the ice to raise $1,600 in the name of Sioux Lookout’s Sierra Hoppe this month – and the funds are being donated back to animals in need.
Hoppe was active in the Sioux Lookout hockey community before passing away at the young age of 14 in February 2022, and an annual charity hockey game was created between the Sioux Lookout OPP and Fire Service after her passing.
This year, $1,600 was raised for the Sioux Lookout Animal Rescue through a $5 admission fee and donations. Members of the OPP are thanking the public for their generosity and support in making the event another success.
The game took place on February 18 at the Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena. It was the second annual event.
