Leadership with the Dryden Regional Health Centre says they’ll be aiming to empower workers, innovate in the healthcare sector and build strong community foundations over the next three years.
The DRHC’s leadership team revealed the hospital’s new 2023 – 2026 Strategic Plan document last week, which identifies three pillars to guide the facility’s direction.

– Lead new solutions
President and CEO Doreen Armstrong-Ross says the new strategic plan was developed with input from staff, physicians, volunteers, community partners and patients through various interviews and surveys.
“After a challenging last few years, we are at a crucial time in healthcare evolution. Empowered, Progressive, Innovative Care is a catalyst for DRHC’s commitment to accelerate innovation toward excellence in rural health care,” she says.
“We will do this by supporting staff and physicians, building partnerships and collaboration, ensuring clinical and operational quality, advancing health equity for Indigenous peoples, and creating a safe and inclusive environment to benefit our communities, patients, and their families.”
Armstrong-Ross adds in addition to their new strategic pillars, the Board of Directors also approved the hospital’s new Mission Statement to help guide the organization.
‘Our mission: We are an innovative rural health center that exists to enhance the health of the patients and communities we serve. We vision: To be recognized as an innovative center of excellence in rural healthcare.’
“Developing Empowered, Progressive, Innovative Care has been a great opportunity for the Board to hear from our community and reflect on how we can improve healthcare services to meet the unique needs of Northwestern Ontario,” says Brock Moore-Bunney, Chair of the Board of Directors of DRHC.
“We were able to really look at who we are as an organization, where we want to be in the future, and determine how we want to get there using a very patient-centered lens.”
