An 18 year old man from Kenora has been arrested after a 52 year old man was attacked with a machete in Winnipeg.
The assault took place last Thursday afternoon after two people got off a transit bus.
The suspect followed the victim and attacked him with the knife.
The victim was rushed to hospital and had surgery for severe injuries, which police say could be life-altering.
The WPS located the suspect on Tuesday and was taken into custody with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team.
Police say he was found to be in possession of the machete and another knife.
He’s been charged aggravated assault, three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
The Winnipeg Police believe this was a random assault and unprovoked.
