The Dryden Eagles Girls Hockey team has finished first in the NorWOSSA league standings.
The Eagles blanked the Fort Frances Muskies 4-0 last night
Meagan Lundmark opened the scoring late in the second period and Dryden added three more in the final period off the sticks of Molly McMurrich, Peyton Borton and Caity Sapay.
Sydney Boyko earned the shutout.
While there are a few games left to be played by others, the Eagles now know they will face-off Thursday February 23rd against the Sioux North Warriors in best of three semi-final action.
Game 2 goes up Highway #72 on Saturday the 25th.
The NorWOSSA boys hockey playoffs begin next week as well.
Beaver Brae clinched second place in the league standings with a 3-2 win last night over the Sioux North Warriors.
The Broncos will now play the wWarriors in the semifinals starting next Thursday.
The NorWOSSA “A” and “AA” court sport playoffs are taking place this week in Rainy River and Dryden.
Play-offs start at noon today in the “A” division as the Owls host.
In the first game of the day, St. Thomas Aquinas will take on North Lights from Atikokan in the Junior boys semi-final, followed by Northern Lights against Ignace in the Senior boys semi.
On the volleyball court, it will be Northern Lights taking on Red Lake in the junior girls semi-final at 3:00 and the Saints senior girls will take on Ignace at 5:00.
The winners will advance to Thursday’s gold medal games.
The Double “A” finals will take place on Friday at the gyms at the Dryden High School.
