There’s some support for Dryden’s Microtel project from City Council.
The project, which hasn’t received approvals yet, would create a new 76-room Microtel at 325 Government Street between Dingwall Ford and RONA. The proposal is being put forward by the Dryden Hotel Group.
During last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting at City Hall, Councillor Ritchie Noel threw his support behind the project as another housing amenity for the community.
“I think this is a great thing and a great opportunity for our city. I only see good things with having another hotel here, especially on that particular location. It’s so needed.”
Mayor Jack Harrison noted the project’s site plans are very detailed and extensive – even going as far as to specify which type of trees will be planted – which impressed the former forester.
Chief Building Official for the City of Dryden, Pam Skillen, says if the project’s site plan receives approvals during Dryden’s Council meeting later this month – the project will go through further reviews before more approvals are needed later in the year.
Skillen notes even if everything goes as planned, there’s no exact timeline for the project at this point. Council is set to meet again on February 27 for their regular Council meeting.
