A Kenora man is facing serious charges after an incident at the Kenora Century Cinema Thursday night – and has since been released from custody.
The OPP say they were called to the Second Street South business after the report of an assault around 7 p.m. They were advised a male had attacked the manager, and the two were fighting outside.
Later, the male suspect reportedly returned to the theatre and tried to attack the manager with a knife.
Police say they attended the scene immediately and located the suspect nearby.
The accused has been charged with:
· Assault with a Weapon, contrary to sec. 267(a) CC
· Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, contrary to sec. 733.1(1) CC
They’ve has been identified as 25 year old Kelvin Meekis, who was held in custody to answer to the charges.
After media requests to the Kenora and Dryden courthouses, Acadia News has learned the suspect was granted bail and is set to appear in Kenora Court on February 23.
