Schools in Red Lake and Atikokan dominated the NorWOSSA Nordic Ski Championships in Fort Frances.
Kacie Mota from Red Lake High School finished first in the senior girls 7.8 kilometer event, while Karlyn Rissanen from Northern Lakes School in Atikokan was second and Molly Hendy from St. Thomas Aquinas third.
In the senior boys division, just two skiers, as Carter Payne was first followed by Jackson Marchant. They are both from Fort Frances High School.
In the junior girls event, Red Lake District High School Dominated, with Kieran Faulds placing first in the 5.6 kilometer course, followed by Sadie Wood and Brooklynn Dumontier, both from Red Lake.
Cooper Rissanen was the only person competing in the junior boys event.
In the grade 7/8 boys 2.8 kilometer race, students from the Golden Learning Center took the first two places in the boys 7/8 race with Beckett Hager first, followed by Gavin Yutzy in second and Tucker Blyth in third.
In the girls 7/8 division, Ashlyn Hager was first, followed by Gracie Henrud and Avery Hales, both from Beaver Brae in second and third.
The NorWOSSA Nordic championships will take next week, on Tuesday, February 14th in Kenora.
