Sophie Medwid
July 4, 1928 – January 10, 2023
It is with great sadness that the Family announces the peaceful passing of Sophie Medwid on January 10, 2023 at Princess Court with her family by her side.
Sophie is survived by her son David and wife Pamela. Grandchildren Michael (Caitlin), Stephanie (Adam) and Christina, Laura (Jordan), Sarah (Derrick), Jaime (Tyson) as well as 6 great Grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brother Steve (Marie) and sister Kathy (Eddie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her Husband Victor, son Peter, parents Alex and Mary Bilan as well as Brothers John, Matt, Bill, George and Nick.
Sophie was born on July 4, 1928 in Gardenton Manitoba. She received her schooling in Lukowce school and spent her younger years on the family farm.
While working in Winnipeg she met Victor and they married shortly there after in 1952. They moved to Dryden where they both were employed at the Dryden Paper Company cooking in the bush camps.
She was blessed with a family of 2 sons whom she was extremely proud of. Sophie was a very devoted and loving mother. She could always be found in her garden and took great pride in it.
Sophie was a person of faith and a member of St. Lukes Anglican Church.
The Family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff at Princess Court for their care and compassion for Mom over the years.
A private Family Funeral Service is planned as per Sophies wishes.
Internment will follow at the Dryden Cemetery.
If friends so desire donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
