A location for the All-Nations Hospital in Kenora should be known sometime next year.
President and CEO of Lake of the Woods District Hospital Ray Racette says they are currently working on Stage 2 of their proposal to the Ministry of Health.
“We have two big things that we need to do as part of Stage 2. One is we need to confirm sources of funding and the second is we need to confirm that we have access to a site on which to build the hospital.”
Racette says they do have a preferred site but can’t disclose it at this time.
He notes the current location of the hospital on Tunnel Island has been ruled out because of its size and the difficulties building while the current facility is still in use.
