Officials with the Experimental Lake Area, west of Vermilion Bay, are using 50 years of data to study climate change in our region.
Deputy Director Pauline Gerrard says they use not only temperature and rain gauges, but also see how area lakes are responding to warmer and rising temperatures.
She says this was a record year of precipitation and they are tracking that data.
Gerrard says they are seeing more major storm events and notes that spring is happening earlier and fall is happening later.
She notes global warming is real.
