The provincial government is providing $200,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation to the Dryden Ski Club to upgrade the local ski hill and chalet.
Key work to the chalet includes expanding the outdoor patio, installing new windows and LED lighting, updating the washrooms, and purchasing interior furnishings and a speaker system.
Improvements to the ski hill include installing LED lighting for improved night skiing, and landscaping the runs.
The project will extend the club’s use of the facilities into the off-season, allowing new venue rental opportunities.
Ski Club President Bev Churchill says they have seen unprecedented growth in membership and use over the past three years, particularly in the number of youth and without this support they wouldn’t be able to modernize and grow.
Minister of Northern Development Greg Rickford made the announcement Monday and says the government is focused on investing in communities and creating vibrant recreational facilities that promote health and improve wellness.
Pleased to announce an investment of $200K in @skidryden for ski hill lighting and chalet upgrades. Through the NOHFC, our government is supporting recreational facilities with expansions and upgrades so they can continue to keep the North vibrant.
