Lawrence Clayton Bower
July 3, 1927 – November 28, 2022
Lawrence Clayton Bower was born July 3, 1927, in Port Arthur, (Thunder Bay) Ontario, and lived his entire full, productive life of 95 years in Sioux Lookout. He passed away peacefully on November 28, 2022. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 69 years Therese, his daughter Denyse Clace, and son-in-law Ken Rusk.
Lawrence helped build, owned and operated Frog Rapids Camp for over 80 years. He was a jack of all trades. He designed and built the family home, living there until the end. He did maintenance work on all Frog Rapids Camp’s cedar strip boats and motors over the winters, and could fix almost anything! Woodworking was perhaps one of his favourite activities; over the years he completed many projects for Frog Rapids Camp as well as for his large family. During the winter months, he enjoyed playing cards, curling, travelling the world, teaching and participating in square dancing. In his later years, gardening held his interest during the summers.
Lawrence was a wise and gentle man of few words. He was seldom seen without wearing his black tam with the red pompom on top. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Parish and sang in the choir. He was treasurer of the Catholic School Board in Sioux Lookout until it amalgamated with Dryden. Lawrence was the last surviving charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #03198 in Sioux Lookout
Lawrence will be fondly remembered by his children Susan (Frank), Dayle, Gayle (Blair), Tim (Moira), Larry (Antje), Adele (Dave), son-in-law Dave Clace, nephew Gary Bower, his 18 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was very curious to experience what came next and now he knows. We love you Paw.
In memory of Lawrence, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Parish, Sioux Lookout through The Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, PO Box 1449, 128 Front St. Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9.
