A local politician won’t be seeking the leadership of the Ontario NDP party.
Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa has announced on social media that he won’t put his name in the running.
He thanked everyone who encouraged him to put his name forward for leader but notes he won’t be pursuing the role at this time.
Mamakwa says leadership is a very serious consideration and his top priority right now is continuing to be a voice for Kiiwetinoong and First Nations.
The deadline to enter the race is today.
NDP members will select a new leader in the first week of March next year.
