Dryden’s Brandon Gustafson returned to the ice for the first time since October 8 and made an immediate impact however the Kenora Under-18 Thistles couldn’t pick a win against visiting Winnipeg Wednesday night.
The Thrashers defeated Kenora 5-1 with Gustafson scoring the lone goal.
“It felt good being on the ice with all the boys. Burying one tonight. Felt good to get that off my back and play some hockey. It’s good to be back.
Gustafson was out with an injury.
Next up for the Thistles is the Norman North Stars Saturday and Sunday in Kenora.
Gustafson says, “We just got to work hard in practice. Play a full 60 minutes through the whole game. Keep our head up to make sure no dirty hits or anything against Thompson.
Balmertown’s Patrick Forsythe had the loss in net, stopping 17 of the 20 shots he faced in the first 40 minutes.
James Sinclair took over in net for the third period, stopping 12 of 14 shots.
