The Dryden Eagles Senior Girls Basketball team put up a good fight but were unable to knock-off the Hammarskjold Vikings in the NWOSAA Championship over the weekend.
The Eagles came up against a very strong, fast paced Hammarskjold team in the first game and unfortunately the Blue and Gold were unable to adjust to their level of play and lost 54-16.
Valerie Griffiths was the top scorer with 7 points.
The following day, the Eagles were much more composed and settled into their style of game.
Despite all of their efforts they were unable to stop Hammarskjold from capitalizing on several three pointers and give and go plays.
Fiona Cook was the top scorer with 11 points.
The Vikings swept the Best-of-3 Series and will now represent the northwest at the All-Ontario’s.
