Domtar and the Dryden GM Ice Dogs have wrapped up a very successful partnership.
The two got together Sunday to host a charity hockey game with all proceeds going to Community Living Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
A total of $2,262 was raised thanks to your support.
The event between the Ice Dogs and Dryden Mill River Rats included a free book giveaway, a 50/50 “chuck a puck” event and a grand prize draw.
Before the game, Domtar presented a cheque totalling $1,800 to the Ice Dogs as part of the Home Game Goal Sponsor program.
During the month of October Domtar would provide $100 for every goal the Ice Dogs scored and a total of 18 goals were scored that month at the Memorial Arena.
Mill General Manager Marie Cyr says, “This has been an amazing partnership with great results. This couldn’t happened without our employees who gave their time to play the game and to volunteer at the event helping to make the charity game a huge success.”
The final score was 7-7 with a handful of mill employees taking part that are Ice Dogs alumni from years gone by.
President of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Mike Sveinson says, “This is such a key partnership for the club, with Domtar, who is clearly a major economic and societal driver for our community. These are the types of partnerships we seek, and we are grateful to Adi (Lang), Lori (Russel), and Dianne (Loewen) for their work on this. We couldn’t be prouder to work closely with Domtar to help achieve our mutual goals.”
