A timely donation to the Dryden Food Bank as we head into a busy season for the organization.
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization presented a cheque of $5,000 Thursday
Regional Communications Manager Vince Ponka says, “We actually saw an article that the Food Bank put out a call saying they could really use some help stocking the shelves. So NWMO saw that story and jumped on it quickly and we’re very happy to get a $5,000 donation together to support the Food Bank because we really believe in supporting the communities where we live and work.
He adds, “The NWMO really believes in being good corporate citizens and supporting the communities where we live and work. We do have staff members here in Dryden as well as across the north. So we just really want to make sure that people in Dryden have the supports they need and if we can help in small way we’re very happy to do that.”
Ponka and staff toured the facility and says those involved are doing a great job helping those in need in our community.
“One hand it’s unfortunate to see the need that’s out there for food banks, I know it is increasing, but it’s also encouraging to see the great work being done here and the number of people that are helped every month.”
