The Mayor-elect for the City of Dryden says he looks forward to getting to work.
Jack B. Harrison is set to take over from Greg Wilson who did not run in Monday’s municipal election.
“We do have two experienced councillors coming back. I’m grateful for that. They can bring that experience to the table and four new ones. I’m excited that we have a good diversity of councillors to work with. I think that will bring many different perspectives to the council meetings.”
Harrison is joined by veteran councillor Martin MacKinnon and returning councillor Michelle Price, along with newcomers Bryan Tardiff, Catherine Kiewning, Ritch Noel and Bill Latham.
Harrison says he looks forward to what they can do together for the next four years.
He says the immediate priority is providing input on a new municipal budget and finalizing a capital plan for the upcoming year.
A swearing in ceremony still needs to be held but Harrison has already been in contact with Minister Greg Rickford about future opportunities.
He says they can’t move forward on several projects, including developing the waterfront, without government support.
Harrison says he will focus on building relationships, reaching out and look out for any opportunities to improve the community.
