The federal government is breathing new life into the tourism sector in Kenora-Rainy River.
A number of camps and tourist related businesses are receiving funding from FedNor to help them recover from the pandemic.
A portion of the nearly $9.7 million allocated for northern Ontario is meant for upgrades and repairs.
Stanley’s West Arm Camp in the Vermilion Bay area is welcoming $100,000 to renovate its cabins with new air conditioning units, complete winterization, appliance replacements, and upgrades to the boathouse and deck.
Century Lodge in Eagle Lake has received the same amount for new docks, a new generator and fuel storage tanks, a new septic system, and a new cabin.
Wright’s Wilderness Camp is getting $100,000 to replace a cabin at its Gullrock Lake location.
Wilderness Air in Vermilion Bay has received the same amount to expand their facilities, and update and develop advertising materials.

Seine River First Nation

Seine River First Nation is receiving $108,743 to develop and install Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality components as part of an immersive cultural tourism experience at the multi-use cultural centre. This funding is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program.
Yellow Bird Lodge

Yellow Bird Lodge is receiving $100,000 to build a multi-purpose building that will include a sauna, hot tub and indoor fitness facility.
