The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has ended an investigation into injuries sustained by a 42 year old man who was arrested by Treaty Three Police back in February.
The man was picked up for pubic intoxication and was placed in custody at the OPP Detachment in Kenora.
His injuries were diagnosed the following day.
The SIU determined the injuries were sustained prior to his arrest after he slipped and fell on ice.
Director of the SIU, Tony Martino says its arguable the civilian custodians paid adequate attention to the man’s injuries, but noted the SIU’s jurisdiction does not cover civilian members of a police force.
