The Dryden Eagles High School Football team showed their true merit Thursday afternoon following a disappointing shutout loss last week against Beaver Brae.
The Eagles dominated in all aspects of the game in a 54-26 beatdown of the St. Johns Tigers at Harry McMaster Field.
Special teams ended up coming up big as Brennan Piche returned a first half punt about 65 yards for a major score, Shalom Powell recovered from a bobble and ran the ball back nearly 80 yards on a kick-off return for a touchdown and the Eagles recovered an outside kick that eventually led to a score.
Dryden was equally explosive on offence in the game.
Shalom Powell caught a pass from Dean Iwaynk and ran it 30 yards for a major, while adding a 19 yard touchdown run.
Dryden knew things were going good when Iwaynk hooked up with Carter Gustafson for 31 yards on the final play of the first half for another major score to secure the victory.
The Eagles did not let up in the second half, which was mostly run time.
Raynor Powell showed his speed and ability with an electric 50 yard touchdown run and another 60 yard scamper into the end zone.
Leonard Bradley thrilled fans and teammates alike with a 53 yard catch and run for another score.
Carter McKinstry led a strong defensive effort against a solid running team with several big hits and plays.
He also recorded an interception.
Dryden improves to 3-1 and will once again play at home Friday, October 7 against the West Kildonan Wolverines.
