A dramatic drop in the number of active high risk cases of COVID-19 in the region.
The Northwestern Health Unit says there are 91 cases this week, down from 219 last week.
Local health officials note the numbers are lower than the ‘real’ number due to the fact many people are not eligible for PCR testing and instead test positive on Rapid Antigen tests at home and are not counted in the total.
In terms of the seven-day test positivity rate, it decreased slightly to 20.1 per cent, down from 22.4 per cent last week.
There are six institutional outbreaks, with three in long term care homes and two in hospital.
