A timely agreement as schools are set to welcome students back to class.
The College Employer Council, which represents Ontario’s 24 colleges including Confederation College, and Ontario Public Service Employees Union have reached a tentative 3-year deal for full-time support staff.
Details won’t be released until ratification from both sides.
The date of the ratification vote will be announced shortly.
However, the union says the tentative contract recognizes the important work that full-time support staff provide to Colleges, students, and the Ontario post-secondary education system more generally.
A statement reads, “Both parties worked hard and engaged in productive dialogue. The negotiations were characterized by respectful and open dialogue, compromise and cooperation. The deal is a fair and reasonable one. The College sector is stronger because of this ongoing positive working relationship.”
In the meantime, the current collective agreement that expired on August 31 will continue to be in effect.
Wages, benefits, working conditions and job security were some of the issues on the bargaining table.
