Janice McMillan
December 19, 1957 – August 22, 2022
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice Noel McMillan. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 22, 2022, at 64 years of age.
Jan was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario to parents Con and Marion Gould in 1957.
The family moved to Dryden, Ontario in 1964 and this became her forever home. She was the only daughter in a family with all brothers which contributed to her tenacious spirit.
Jan received her education in Dryden and then continued to Red River College. She began her Payroll/Accounting career with the Pulp and Paper Mill working there for 27 years. Next, she worked for the City of Dryden and then finished her career with Hoey and McMillan Ltd.
Jan deeply loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a talented cook and baker. She loved trying out new recipes and skills in the kitchen. Their home in Dryden was always a gathering place for their family and friends to enjoy good food, conversations and the lake.
Jan and Shane got to share their love of music together, passion for travel, and once semi-retired they spent many winters at their home in Florida.
Golfing, gardening and cycling were favourite activities of hers. But most of all, she enjoyed the beach and a sunset by the ocean.
Jan will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her husband Shane, children Melissa (Cliff), Ryan (Andrea), Tara (Lee), Ashley (Kerry), and Matthew (Charlee). Her beloved grandchildren Xander, Bailey, Kohbe, Theodore, Keelin, Lily, Benjamin, Elliot, Everly and Noa. Her brothers Jeff (Jerri), Gord (Connie), Terry (Penny), Bob (Lori), and Roger (Renee). Brother-in-law Scott (Brenda) Sisters in-law Heather (Mel) and Robyn. As well as her extended family members and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her mother Marion, father Con and brother David.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the Healthcare Providers involved in her care from Dryden to Thunder Bay. We are truly grateful.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 1st at 11 am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Rev. Naboth Manzongo officiating.
