Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor is touring the region the next couple of days.
The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell is scheduled to visit the Experimental Lakes Area, just west of Vermilion Bay from 10:30 am until noon.
She will be discovering the work scientists do at the site, visiting the lakes and touring the ELA.
Dowdeswell will then head to Red Lake for Norseman Days.
She will be welcomed by Mayor Fred Mota and community leaders at 3:00 pm before attending the Opening Ceremony at 5:00 pm.
Mota and Dowdeswell will plant a tree in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Dowdeswell will then join Mayor Fred Mota and community members for a fish fry dinner at the Legion starting at 7, before touring the waterfront.
Saturday morning she will tour the Evolution Mine and take part in a roundtable and feast with the Red Lake Truth and Reconciliation Committee and Indigenous leaders.
She started her northern tour in Thunder Bay.
