In-person celebrations are once again planned for Canada Day in communities across the northwest.
In Dryden, everything get’s going at 8:00 a.m. with the traditional Pancake Breakfast at the Royal Canadian Legion.
Following your meal most activities are being held at Cooper Park.
There will be bouncy castles set-up, children’s activities, a dunk tank in support of the Dryden Food Bank, the Science North ‘Great Northern Ontario Roadshow’, live music and local vendors.
The ‘Great Northern Ontario Roadshow’ will highlight the incredible opportunities for cultural, art, heritage, culinary, and recreational tourism that exist in Northern Ontario, encouraging a resurgence in “home grown” tourism that will lead to economic recovery around the region.
The signing of our national anthem and the cake cutting ceremony is scheduled for noon.
The day ends at dusk with fireworks at Van Horne Landing.
As a result of the festivities Earl Avenue from Arthur Street to the Riverview Lodge parking lot will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Van Horne Avenue from Lakeside Drive to Van Horne Landing will be closed from 8:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
On #July1 between 11:00 and 4:00 make a donation to The Dryden Food Bank (monetary or non-perishable food items) and try to dunk a member of the #DrydenOPP or @Dryden_Fire in a FREEZING cold dunk tank! #Dryden ^bb pic.twitter.com/oVWh1F8AF8
