The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is deploying a team of investigators following a plane crash involving a Cessna U206G aircraft that occurred Thursday in Sandy Lake First Nation.
Officials say the TSB will be there to gather information and assess the circumstances behind the crash.
Sandy Lake Nation Chief and Council confirm the crash around 6:50 p.m. on May 26.
A statement released on social media states the Sandy Lake Seaplane’s Cessna float aircraft went down with one confirmed fatality.
Chief Delores Kakegamic says, “At this difficult time, the family is requesting that no one post pictures of the crash site on all social media platforms.”
She adds, “We ask for your thoughts, prayers and support to family, friends, coworkers, community members. Meegwetch.”
