A Flood Watch issued last week for the Red Lake area has been upgraded to a Flood Warning.
The notice will be re-evaluated on Monday.
Residents in the Red Lake, Suffel Lake, Dixie Lake, Longlegged Lake, Pakwash Lake, Chukuni River and Coli Lake watersheds, and surrounding areas should exercise caution around less travelled roads, bridges, water-crossings, lakes, rivers, and areas of high runoff potential, as water levels in portions of the district are high.
Water levels are at or exceeding maximum outflows and may continue to rise throughout the coming days due to significant precipitation received and forecasted.
These water levels could lead to road and shoreline property damage.
Residents are advised to secure shoreline structures such as boats, docks, as well as other items and structures.
Residents in unorganized townships in the Red Lake area may request sandbags free-of-charge from the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry by calling 807-728-3425.
Government issued identification is required.
Water levels on Red Lake, Keg, Gullrock, Ranger and Two Island Lakes are regulated by the control dam at Snowshoe Rapids on the Chukuni River, at the outlet of the Red Lake system and the dam is operating at full capacity,
