An exciting new initiative in Dryden to help ensure area youth and adults maintain a great smile, without losing the necessary personal support.
The Kenora District Services Board, in partnership with the Northwestern Health Unit, has introduced a new EarlyON child and family centre and dental clinic at 20 King Street.
You can now access the centre though the east entrance on King Street.
A variety of free publicly funded dental services will be provided at the site to eligible KDSB clients of all ages through the health unit.
The KDSB will provide children’s programming to clients who are attending KDSB or health unit appointments at 20 King Street.
Trained staff will also be available to provide child supervision.
“On behalf of the KDSB, we appreciate the child supervision through EarlyON and the dental clinic partnership between the Kenora District Services Board and Northwestern Health Unit. The initiative provides better-centralized access to vital services and removes barriers for those attending appointments on-site,” says Henry Wall, CAO at the KDSB.
Marilyn Herbacz is the CEO at the Northwestern Health Unit and says, “The partnership between Kenora District Services Board and Northwestern Health Unit’s dental team was an ideal fit as both organizations serve a similar population. We are pleased to collaborate with KDSB to increase access to dental care in Dryden and the surrounding area. This valued partnership will allow for better coordination of client services and will improve oral health, resulting in healthier smiles and improved overall well-being.”
Manager of Dental Health Dawn Sauve adds, “Poor oral health impacts quality of life. Missing teeth and oral pain can affect speech, what foods we are able to eat, how we socialize, our employability and our ability to attend school or work. Our services help to improve the quality of lives by treating existing dental problems and helping to prevent future issues. If you can’t afford dental care, contact us to see if we can help.”
