Our area missed the brunt of Monday’s threatening storm,
Dryden recorded 8.8 millimetres of rain, still a record compared to the 5mm we received in 2014.
Sioux Lookout saw only 7.8 millimetres, not even close to the 27mm benchmark set in 2004.
Kenora on the other hand wasn’t as lucky.
There was over 36 millimetres of precipitation at the Kenora Airport.
That shattered the previous record of 9.9 millimetres.
Meterologist Gerald Cheng says the region seems to be in the path of more rain storms later this week.
“We are right in the storm track. The system wants to go through the area because the jet stream is taking these systems through northwestern Ontario and that’s why we’re dealing with the unsettled weather.”
Cheng says the next storm system will likely hit later Wednesday and again on Thursday into Friday.”
He warns it could be a big one the final two days of the week.
