With most of the area between English River and the Manitoba border already under a Heavy Rainfall Warning, several communities along the Trans-Canada Highway are now under a “Severe Thunderstorm Watch” as well.
Dryden, Kenora and surrounding areas are being warned that conditions are right for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts of up to 90kph and large hail of between 1 and 3 cm along with local heavy downpours.
A low pressure system from the Dakotas will bring locally heavy rain and a risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon.
