This is Emergency Preparedness Week and the Dryden Fire Service is out with some tips to keep you safe.
Officials say you should have a 72 hour kit ready to get you through the first three days of an emergency.
Items you should have include bottled water, a first aid kit, flash light, spare batteries, candles, matches, medication, toiletries and easy to prepare non perishable food.
In the event that evacuation is required, bring extra clothing, and sleeping bags or blankets.
You should pack the contents in an easy-to-carry bag and put the kit in an easy to reach location and tell your entire household where it is kept.
