A person who has spent her whole career with the Kenora Catholic District School Board is the new Director of Education.
St. John School in Red Lake is under the Catholic Board’s umbrella.
Nicole Kurtz was officially appointed by trustees this week.
Kurtz graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas and was also the principal there.
The has also been the principal Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys, a guidance counselor, and taught all grade levels from kindergarten to Grade 12.
She has been with the Board for the the past 25 years and replaces Paul White who retires at the end of August.
Kurtz will officially take on her new duties on September 1.
She says she never started out her teaching career thinking she would be the director some day.
Kurtz is currently a Superintendent of Education.
