Six community projects in Dryden have been approved by Council to receive funding from the Moffat Family Fund.
The total allocation this year is $100,000.
Projects accepted include:
-Dryden Food Bank: Weekly purchase of milk products to address calcium deficiencies (Amount approved: $46,750)
-Dryden Food Bank: New Refrigerated Storage Unit (Amount approved: $15,000)
-Dryden Food Bank: Home Delivery Program (Amount approved: $3,000)
-Making Connections for Children and Youth: Universal Recreation Program for Children and Youth (Amount approved $11,750)
-The Board of Health for Northwestern Health Unit: Nutrition on Weekends Program (Amount approved: $16,750)
-Dryden Public Library Board: Expansion of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (Amount approved: $6,750)
The Winnipeg-based Foundation is expected to rubber stamp the recommendations.
The Moffat Family invested $100 million with the Winnipeg Foundation and set the criteria that 20% of the investment income is to be returned to the communities in which the Moffat Family conducted business.
The fund’s mandate is “to support and advance the social, physical and intellectual well-being of children and families.”
The City of Dryden has a committee in place to review applications and make a recommendation to Council.
There were six requests this year.
