The President of the Beyak Automotive Group is thankful for the cooperation of the City of Dryden to make a Splash Park dream a reality.
Nick Beyak says he received great support from staff and council to free up a space of land at Rotary Park near New Prospect School.
His team has donated $230,000 towards the project.
Beyak believes the park will be a huge addition for recreation in the community, especially now that COVID lockdowns have ended.
“By building something like this. Quite frankly to do something hopeful and positive for the community and to build something like this that has a physical component that kids will be outside, running around, getting sunshine, Vitamin-D.
Beyak adds, “There is just a tonne of good benefits but the timing, I think we all needed some good news and how it will help those kids and their families, I’m very excited.”
Work on the 2,800 square foot park is expected to start mid-July with a mid-August opening.
Beyak says they approached Fort Frances first but stresses they weren’t very cooperative and that’s why they turned to Dryden.
“I know Steve Belanger (Community Services Manager) and one of my employees knows him pretty well up in Dryden and we got chatting with him and he was from the get-go excited, enthusiastic, professional and said let’s get together, let’s meet in person, let’s see if we can make this happen and then Roger Nesbitt got involved (CAO) very quickly.”
Beyak notes “This was just over a month ago, maybe a month and three days ago, and here we are. Approval with Council with a piece of land. So the night and day difference between the Fort Frances Council and Dryden and the staff was the reason it’s coming to Dryden. Pure and simple.”
