A major investment to ensure work continues at the Experimental Lakes Area, between Kenora and Vermilion Bay.
The province is spending $9.5 million to support vital research at the world-class facility.
The funding will allow the facility to operate for another 5 years.
One key project focuses on efforts to address the effect of mercury emissions from coal-fired plants in Ontario and the U.S.
Additional work includes the implementation of an acid rain recovery program for the Sudbury region and actions to address phosphorus in inland lakes and the Great Lakes
The government is also providing $180,000 to help the ELA produce design drawings and cost estimates for a potential new building at the site.
