All schools under the umbrella of the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, Kenora Catholic District School Board and CSDC des Aurores Boreales are now closed for the day.
The decision was made for schools in Red Lake, Ear Falls, Kenora and Sioux Narrows Wednesday afternoon and the final decision for the remaining schools was made early this morning (Thursday)
It’s due to poor road conditions and the continuing winter storm warning in effect for the region.
Officials say the decision to close schools is always made with the safety, well-being and security of students, staff, and families in mind.
The Northwest District Catholic School Board has now closed St. Joseph’s in Dryden and Sacred Heart in Sioux Lookout.
