Tightened restrictions at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
The hospital has moved into Level 4 or Red Control in its Pandemic Plan due to significant COVID positivity rates among staff, and within the community.
As of Wednesday there were 17 cases considered high risk in the community.
Patients will now be permitted one designated essential visitor who must be fully vaccinated and must pass the entrance screening requirements.
Department managers are reviewing other options and are preparing to ramp down services if required.
Hospital staff say they are closely monitoring the situation.
President and Chief Executive Officer Doreen Armstrong-Ross says, “Even though many restrictions have been relaxed in Ontario, we implore community members to continue following public health recommendations such as masking in public places, physical distancing and staying home when feeling ill, as we know these are the most effective ways to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
She adds protecting their vulnerable patients and staff remains a top priority and thanks the public for their cooperation and understanding.
