Bernadette “Bunny” Voth
February 7, 1935 – March 13, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Bernadette “Bunny” Voth, announces her passing on March 13, 2022.
Bunny was born in Fort William, Ontario on February 7, 1935 and received her education there. She graduated with a Registered Nurses Degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Port Arthur in 1955. She worked for St. Joseph’s and then McKellar Hospitals before moving to Dryden in 1957 where she was employed at the Dryden District General Hospital until 1964. In 1960, she married Jake and made Dryden her permanent home, raising her family there. In 1978, she returned to the work force, taking a position as Special Education Teacher’s Assistant, working in various schools in Dryden before her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the Dryden Go-Getters Association and Catholic Women’s League. She spent many years volunteering at DRHC as a greeter, as well as at St. Joseph’s Catholic School preparing lunches. She was active in the Women of the Moose, Chapter 0802, holding various officers’ positions for many years. She served as Deputy Grand Regent for Ontario in 1996-1997, achieving Past Deputy Grand Regent Status in 1997. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, embroidery, playing computer, and bowling. She especially enjoyed being in the outdoors fishing, boating or camping with her husband and family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Jake, son Don (Mary) Voth of Dryden, daughter Karen (Stephen) Oshust of Thunder Bay, grandchildren Lindsay (Ryan) Voth of Ignace, Tiffany Voth of Dryden, and Jami Oshust of Thunder Bay. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents James and Margaret McCallum, brother Harvey McCallum, sisters Leita Carson, Frances “Ernie” Cuff, Agnes “Inez” Eckmier, Lois Proctor, Grace McMillan, Alma Gatien, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with prayers at 8 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday. March 16, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Alan Campeau officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Dryden Cemetery.
