Lorene Williams
December 8, 1933 – March 1, 2022
In loving memory of Lorene Helen Williams (nee Schmale) who passed away March 1, 2022 at Princess Court following a brief illness.
Lorene was born December 8, 1933 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to a large family, including twin sister Doreen. Lorene served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, prior to attending Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1962. On a trip to Dryden with a fellow nursing student, Maxine, Lorene met her future husband Andy Williams.
Andy and Lorene were married in July 1964 and were blessed with two active boys, Brian and Scott. They spent many years at the hobby farm in Oxdrift, while still working full time. Lorene was very involved with her boys and their sports.
Lorene worked at the Dryden District General Hospital, right out of Nursing College, first as a Registered Nurse, then as a Head Nurse, holding various positions at the hospital. Her nursing career spanned 32 years at the hospital, delivering a lot of Dryden’s babies. She finally retired in 1994.
Lorene’s family was her life; enjoying her son’s fastball games, as well as her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She enjoyed family gatherings with her sons, their wives and grandchildren. Her happiest times were when her grandchildren visited, as dozens of photos would show.
Lorene cared for Andy, until he moved to Princess Court in 2006 where she visited him daily, until he passed in 2008. She continued to volunteer at Princess Court for a number of years.
Lorene made a few downsizing moves, moving into Patricia Gardens in 2013, and then into Princess Court in 2014. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63.
Lorene was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Andy Williams, her parents Richard and Anna Schmale, and numerous siblings. Lorene is survived by her sons Brian (Eileen) and Scott (Jennifer), grandchildren Michelle, Kevin (Jillian), Landyn and Dylon and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Jamie Miller officiating.
Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
