Premier Doug Ford is once again calling out the carbon tax and its impact on economic recovery in Ontario.
Ford says the tax is, “a terrible, terrible tax on the backs of the people of Ontario.”
“I lowered the gas prices by 4.5 cents. It almost seemed like the next day the carbon tax wipes that whole thing out. We need to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the federal government,” says Ford.
He adds, “Rather than taxing people non-stop, why don’t we put money back into their pockets to make it more affordable to be able to live. People are getting crunched right across the board. Higher prices in food, higher prices in gas, everything is going up.”
Ford adds the worst place to give your money is the government and people can spend that money a lot wiser than they can.
He says the government would still meet its promise to cut prices by 5.7 cents per litre by the next budget, which is due at the end of March.
