Dryden Fire Service is on the receiving end of 132 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms through Safe Community Project Zero.
Enbridge Gas has made the donation in hopes to bring fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths down to zero.
“I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Enbridge Gas for the donation of these combination alarms that help us continue on our mission to achieve the mandate of Project Zero,” says Fire Chief Chris Wood. “Safe Community Project Zero has had a substantial positive effect in our community, though there is still work to be done. It is imperative that we all ensure that we and our families are properly prepared should an emergency ever happen and I urge all citizens in the City of Dryden to ensure you routinely check all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.”
This year, the campaign is providing provide over 16,600 alarms to residents in 70 municipalities across Ontario and 68 thousand over the past 13 years.
When properly installed and maintained, these alarms help provide an early warning to safely escape from a house fire or carbon monoxide exposure.
Carbon monoxide is a toxic, odourless gas that is a by-product of incomplete combustion of many types of common fuels.
