The province has expanded eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots.
“As of today Friday February 18 those aged 12 to 17 years old are eligible for a booster dose, it’s recommended that a third dose is given to this age group about six months after their second dose,” says Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit Dr. Kit Young Hoon.
With large vaccination clinics over, Dr. Young Hoon says there are still options for appointments.
“Parents and guardians who want their children vaccinated can contact their local office or book an appointment online. School clinics will also continue for this age group to help remove barriers in accessing the vaccine.”
The NWHU will still offer in office appointments and some pop up clinics for those wanting their first, second or third dose.
“I’d also like to thank our staff, volunteers and partners for their incredible work over the past year,” adds Dr. Young Hoon. “I’m proud of the dedication, professionalism and hard work of everyone involved. I’d also like to thank our residents for their commitment to protecting one another.”
