Four people are facing charges after a drug bust in Attawapiskat First Nation.
On February 12th, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service executed a search warrant where police found various drugs including meth, cocaine and fentanyl as well as weapons and Canadian cash.
Police seized the following:
- 2,674 Methamphetamine Tabs (Speed)
- 303 Oxycodone Tabs (Percocet)
- 1 Gram of Fentanyl
- 5.5 Grams of Cocaine
- $2,610.00 (two thousand six-hundred ten dollars) Canadian Currency
- 30-30 Lever Action Rifle
- Imitation C02 Hand Guns
- Collapsible Baton (Prohibited Weapon)
- Brass Knuckles (Prohibited Weapon)
As a result of the investigation, Police say the following people have been charged:
24 year old Sky Josephine Hookimaw
- Possession of Schedule I Substance Sec. 4(1) CDSA
50 year old Georgette Koostachin
- Possession of Schedule Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Sec. 5(2) CDSA x 3
counts - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC
33 year old Natasha Nadine Koostachin
- Possession of Schedule Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Sec. 5(2) CDSA x 3
counts - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC
28 year old Gavin Koostachin
- Possession of Schedule Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Sec. 5(2) CDSA x 3 counts
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Sec. 88 CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Sec. 91(1) CC
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Sec. 92(2) CC
All four of the accused were released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
