The Dryden-Thunder Bay Junior Hockey rivalry is back!
For the second straight night it was a knock-down-drag out fight at the Memorial Arena as both teams actually picked up the intensity from Friday’s opener.
When the dust settled, the Ice Dogs posted another big win, this time winning 6-3.
Brady Frattinger and Maxime Collette scored back-to-back goals on a 5-3 power-play midway through the second period and killed off several key and lengthy penalties to pick up the victory for a second night.
Tyler Earl and Cameron Ware also scored, while Pineshish Whiteduck scored his first SIJHL goal.
Cole Johnston stopped 43 saves for his second win in a row.
The North Stars went 2/12 on the power-play after going 3-14 Friday.
The Red Lake Miners also earned another victory, a convincing 8-2 thrashing of Fort Frances.
It was a balanced attack for the Miners with two goals each from Ryan Howe and Nic Bolin.
Singles were provided by Brandon Rossetti, Ryan Hunter, Jordan Baranesky, and Lucas Piekarczyk.
The Miners out shot the Lakers 51-25.
Jaxson Taupert picked up the winner.
Red Lake remains one point up on Dryden GM for second in the SIJHL standings.
The Dogs are four up on Thunder Bay.
Elsewhere, the Kam River Fighting Walleye survived a scare in Spooner, scoring with 1:09 left in regulation time for a 3-2 win over Wisconsin.
The Walleye have won 15 straight games.
