The prime minister is denouncing some of the activities that took place in Ottawa over the weekend because of the Freedom Convoy.
Justin Trudeau says the desecration of the National War Memorial and the Terry Fox statue is unacceptable.
“We won’t give in to those who fly racist flags,” states Trudeau during a press conference Monday.
“We won’t cave to those who engage in vandalism or dishonor the memory of our veterans.”
Trudeau adds the demonstrations over the weekend are more about disinformation than protesting mandatory vaccines.
“The concerns expressed by a few people gathered in Ottawa right now are not new, not surprising, but are a continuation of what we’ve unfortunately seen in disinformation and misinformation online…conspiracy theorists.”
Trudeau says supply chain issues are a COVID-19 issue and not caused by the vaccine mandate for truckers.
